Testimonies

Brian Bonds - Guitarist (Florida Georgia Line, Love and Theft, Chely Wright)

“If there’s one name responsible for my success in the music business today, it’s Mike Bauer. After beginning lessons with him at age 12, Mike quickly honed in to my strengths and weaknesses and completely changed my playing in a matter of months. His ability to help me with the styles I liked while also exposing me to music and players outside of my box was priceless. My lessons were always on Thursdays and I could hardly wait for them each week! Each hour of every lesson spent was always fun, informative, uplifting.  As I grew older the lesson were not only about guitar, but they also dealt with many issues in the music biz. To this day, I still check in with mike from time to time to get his advice.”

Paige Pisacane

“My son has been taking guitar lessons at Nolensville Guitar Academy for the last two years and loves it!  Mike has a great rapport with the kids and is an excellent instructor.  The small group lessons are perfect for my son who is an athlete with a competitive spirit. Being in a group motivates him to practice so that he doesn’t disappoint the “team”.  He has become good friends with the kids in his group, and they have learned from each other as well as from Mike.  It’s been a fantastic experience!”

Jay Thatcher

“Learning guitar in a team class at the Nashville Guitar Academy makes it fun and affordable. Mike Bauer is a phenomenal teacher providing my son with an incredible foundation. Mike is a great role model also.”

Val and Louis O’Reilly

“Nolensville Guitar Academy has been the best find for our family. We get professional instruction from a great guitarist who is also personable, encouraging, cool, and has good character; a great mentor for our kids. Their lesson with Mike is a time they look forward to each week!”

Laurie King

“My son, Ryan, has been taking guitar lessons with Mike for over a year.  He is an extremely talented teacher that gets the kids playing songs they recognize very quickly.  We wouldn’t go anywhere else for guitar lessons!”

Wayne and Lisa Martin

“Our daughter started taking guitar at Nolensville Guitar academy two years ago at the age of six. We were shocked when she quickly learned to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” Now we are shocked that she can play “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith on the electric guitar! Mike is an extremely patient and motivating teacher.”

The Mulhall Family

“Our two teenagers just love Nolensville Guitar Academy. Mike’s passion for music and enthusiasm for teaching guitar is very evident in the progress James and Sophie have made. The mix of acoustic, rock, electric and country music, as well as their requests for current songs, makes every class a success and keeps the interest of all the students well fuelled! ”

Brad Belemjian - Student

“Mr. Mike is an amazing teacher that really knows how to pace the lessons. He is a great friend and role model with a super personality. One thing I liked the best was how quickly he got us playing and at the same time teaching us valuable techniques. Mr. Mike is the guy to go to for guitar lessons!”

Director/Staff

Mike Bauer, Director

Mike Bauer is a rare breed in the educational world. He's a player's player with a teacher's heart. Mike has helped hundreds of students win at guitar over the last 15 years. Some of his past students play in the music industry while others have become worship leaders and musicians in their local churches. Mike's passion is "to make learning guitar the most fun musical experience our students have ever had, which will quickly inspire a love for playing."

Mike has worked with over 50 national artists and has a performance resume as diverse as Bill Gaither to David Lee Roth.  Since arriving in Nashville in 1998 he's been a studio and touring guitarist as well as a seminar clinician. Mike has played alongside some of Nashville’s biggest stars, touring and/or recording with artists such as (in country music), Pam Tillis, Chely Wright and Little Big Town, and (in Christian music) with Point of Grace, David Phelps, and Sara Groves. He was also faculty at Nashville’s Trevecca University as their commercial guitar instructor for 5 years.

Mike Bauer has 2 electric guitar CD’s entitled “My Own World” and “Dirt & Soul".

Mission Statement

Our goal is to provide world class guitar instruction and music education in a safe, nurturing, yet challenging environment. We are a ministry motivated by the love of God and stress not only each student’s musical development but their spiritual and moral development as well. We also seek to inspire a Christian worldview as we learn and study music of many styles, beliefs and cultures.

What makes us different?

We believe that learning in a small group not only inspires students, but creates an ensemble which helps ingrain musical concepts like playing in time and in tune.  Our classes are tiered beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each weekly class is planned and paced in a way that a lot of content is covered in an hour, and it’s quite a ride!  A typical class may be working on 3-6 songs on any given week.  Each small group is like a team, which just as in sports, fosters a sense of community and healthy competition. The accountability helps keep everyone on their toes and moving forward. Our classes are a full hour, which is twice as long as the average private lesson. The extra time also helps prepare students for their upcoming week of practice more-so than 30 minutes could. We have assistant teachers rotating in our classes with Mike, the director.  We have been voted best in Williamson county parent twice. The difference with us and a rock band type school is we do one thing: Guitar. Our team classes offer a holistic approach to guitar-related music education covering myriad styles, acoustic and electric guitar, songwriting, deep rhythm and lead guitar concepts as well as playing in a band or church praise team. Our lessons are much more than band practice for the next performance. We do also offer seasonal rock band ensembles knowing that having something to practice for is another great motivator, and having performance experience is vital to the growth of our students.
